The more shows I attend, the more I want to actually compete. It’s the best feeling when the announcer is telling which schools won what, and when Sonoma State (my school) wins overall High Point Team Champion *eep* I was beyond thrilled! But running over to get the ribbon, I knew it wasn’t mine. I couldn’t hold it, or take a photo with it. I didn’t earn it. I was there to support and take photos but more and more I’m itching to be in the ring. I hold my breath as each of our teammates ride, let them know if they’ve got the wrong lead or diagonal and pray that they do well in the eyes of the judge. I began researching, today, who I could possibly ride with over Christmas and Summer holidays so that I could compete over Christmas, and so I could compete when the season re opens, beyond summer. I want to be as competitive as I can be and I’m motivated to work my butt off to make it happen… I just have to figure out how. I know I can ride Martin like a dream, thanks to Carrie (who is a fantastic trainer at Petaluma Hill Stables). But Martin is perfect. I need to be able to ride any horse, because IHSA (collegiate) riding is catch riding (google it). I just have to work to get there.
Anyways, so proud of my team! Great job guys!!! Can’t wait for the Davis show, over the Christmas holiday!
